My name is Tom C. Nielson, but my friends call me TC. I’m just an average guy living in a typical middle class neighborhood.
I first became interested in alternative energy by looking at my electric bill every month. I had tried nearly all the usual techniques to reduce my bill, but it seemed like every time I tried to save energy, the bill got higher. I have become very frustrated at the utility companies, because they preach to us about saving energy and saving money, but then they raise their rates or add another fee to compensate for their reduced revenue. It’s a no win situation.
I looked into solar panels and wind generators, but the initial costs were staggering. Whoa!!
I had heard about do-it-yourself solar and wind, but believe me, I am no handyman. I need a blueprint to change a light bulb. (Okay, that’s an exaggeration, but you get the idea.) Building one of these things seemed way out of my comfort zone.
I started studying alternative energy and discovered some amazing things along the way. That’s why I started this blog, to share some of the things I learned and continue to discover. I think most of us are in the dark about alternative energy (no pun intended).
